My tour in late May 2002: We had again rented a small house and a car, because you can best explore the island so. We took this time to hike to the caves Natives, to a smuggler's cove, on the Pico Bejenado (1854 m), 2 days in the Taburiente and in 2 days, the large caldera-round walk over 7 summits.
Why LA PALMA attention we were on the "greenest of the Canary Islands" by a friend who described it as a walker's paradise, with a great mountain range (shares the island), imposing volcanic areas and an ever-sunny side. The island is ideal for walks through a unique, varied nature and for occasional bathing. In the evening one can relax and unwind with a bottle of wine.
What you always wanted to know about LA PALMA ... If you prefer to travel e436 to the east or the west side? Since the west side is all year round sunny and warm, it is recommended that there to rent a finca. When hiking on this page, there are almost always e436 great views, swimming is pleasant and at night you can make yourself without clouds at sunset cozy. When hiking or a capital spree on the east side, it may be cool and overcast and sometimes raining. This however grow many plants and the hikes lead dust by lush greenery!
Backpack travel and mass tourism? e436 La Palma can certainly be traveling with backpack - the public bus services have improved and also hitchhike is not really a problem. e436 Accommodations are everywhere, but not always in all classes. There are many (often free) tent sites, for which one must, however, e436 previously let to grant an authorization. Mass tourism has not only kept discreetly feeder, as the island has no white sandy beaches with palm trees.
Night - but where? Our favorite are houses from the Tourismo rural project. Old Canary country houses have been restored here in beautiful area (all price ranges). The reservation is without problems of Germany (eg clove Janke Travel in Berlin, Tel: 030/47 43 997).
Is a car recommended? We say absolutely! For most hikes you need a car to get to the starting points. Off-road vehicles are not absolutely necessary. For extreme Tours (Directions to Casa del Monte in the tunnel hike below), however, it is worthwhile to hire an all-terrain vehicle for a day. One can save money by trade in their car just for a day and then only pays the Differenzmietbetrag. If you already rented the car in Germany, it will be waiting at the airport e436 and is still more expensive e436 than a gemieterer on the island car.
Can I go swimming? e436 Clear! Although La Palma is a traveling island, but there are still nice beaches on the west side and on the southern tip of fine black sand. On the east side nature ocean basins have been created, you simply must try. There is a nudist beach (Playa Nuns), which is very nice, but is becoming increasingly e436 popular e436 (very full). e436 You can swim Toll in the "pools" (large water holes), which are caused by the mountain stream in the Playa de Taburiente - a tingling pleasure, and very lonely, because you have to scramble a bit!
Taburiente - what does it mean? The CDT is the origin e436 of the volcano, from which the island was formed. He then collapsed later, thus forming a deep kettle. The CDT provides e436 various forms of vegetation, waterfalls and is a national park. There is also the highest point on the island with 2426 m (Roque de los Muchachos). The boiler is a beautiful campground and the sparkling mountain stream. Therefore, the CDT is a must for any visitor and a dream for any traveling freak.
